The Downs Netball Club is a long established and successful premier club with high standards. The Downs' welcome players who are committed, competitive, sporting and above all enjoy playing Netball as part of a team.
The Downs Netball Club are the only Premier Netball League Team in Surrey and were promoted last year from the second division to the first division. This season so far we are placed 7th in the league, click on the England Netball website for the results table. <P>http://www.englandnetball.co.uk/competitions/2011-12/premier-league-1/standings_27 <P> We have held our own so far this season in the first division, winning 4 matches. We only lost by two goals to top spot Oldham and beat third position New Campbell in the first round of games. The League is very competitive with over half of our games within 5 goals. <P> On the 29th January The Downs Netball Club are running a first for the Premier Netball League. We have hired Guildford Spectrum Stadium and are inviting the Netballing community to come and join us and watch The Downs Netball Club play some top drawer netball. <P> Its starts at 1pm and is against Bournemouth 7's Blades who currently sit one place above us in the league. It promises to be a tightly contested game as Bournemouth 7's Blades are old rivals for The Downs. In their last three meetings Bournemouth 7's have only narrowly beat The Downs. It always delivers high performance and high drama. At half time we've got a shooting competition and giving away a CRAZY CATCH to the top shooter from the spectator stands. <P> Lorraine Betsy as our cover girl for the game. Lorraine is a primary school teacher from Dorking and in only a couple of seasons playing premier netball, has just gained herself a place in the Superleague Surrey Storm Netball Team. Lorraine is 6ft 1 and plays GK and GS. She is a key player for The Downs and will be instrumental against the battle against Bournemouth 7's Blades. <P> Our players in the squad also include a number of other Superleague players from Surrey Storm. Regular Surrey Storm players and training with England Netball is Hannah Reid and Katy Holland. Other Surrey Storm Squad Players playing for The Downs Netball Club are Rhianne McHale and Lucy Convey. Rhianne Mc Hale is our regular high performance GA with some exciting moves and long shot shooting. <P> Tickets for the game are only £5.
